Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, was granted permission to bring books inside the Tihar Jail after the court prolonged his judicial custody till April 15.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, was placed into judicial detention on Monday, April 15, by the Rouse Avenue Court. Kejriwal presented the court with a number of demands during the hearing, one of which was the provision of a few books.

Later on, the court gave him permission to bring literature, medicine, and his religious necklace inside his Tihar detention cell. Additionally, the court mandated that Kejriwal be fed meals prepared at home while incarcerated.

The Bhagavad Gita, the Ramayana, and “How Prime Ministers Decide” are the three books that Arvind Kejriwal, the first chief minister in office to be imprisoned in Tihar Jail, was permitted to bring into his cell. Inside the jail, he is permitted to read books and watch TV. He will also be under constant CCTV surveillance.

In accordance with the guidelines, Kejriwal provided a list of six persons he wished to see. His wife Sunita Kejriwal, their son and daughter, Bibhav Kumar, his private secretary, and Sandeep Pathak, the general secretary of the AAP (organization), all on the list.

PTI was informed by a prison official that Kejriwal was transported to jail number two after being brought to Tihar jail at 4 p.m. He had a medical examination, and his vital signs were monitored. He was then taken to the cell, where he will remain by himself.

As Kejriwal has diabetes as well, the jail administration permitted him to have a small amount of candy to maintain a steady blood sugar level. He was also allowed to carry his prescription.

Kejriwal’s cell has a CCTV camera installed, so he will be monitored around-the-clock. According to jail guidelines, each prisoner has been given a television set in their cell or ward, just like the other convicts.

 

Arvind Kejriwal‘s timetable for incarceration

Unlike other prisoners at Tihar Jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be fed home-cooked meals. However, in accordance with jail regulations, he will consume tea, meals, and watch television at the same times as the other convicts.

An inmate’s morning meal consists of tea, cookies, and snacks, such as “dalia,” between seven and eight in the morning. An official told PTI that the lunch consists of rice or chapati, dal, and one vegetable.

According to him, the wards are closed from 12 to 3 p.m. Tea is given again around 4 pm. The official stated that the same selection of foods, including dal, rice, chapati, and veggies, are supplied for supper by 7 p.m.
