On the ECI notification, Atishi asked, “Is EC a subsidiary organization of BJP?”
She questioned why, following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the freezing of the Congress party’s financial accounts before of the polls, the Election Commission did not send letters to the relevant government authorities.
The ECI sent Delhi Minister Atishi a notice on the BJP’s claim of membership. AAP leader chastised EC for doing nothing about the offensive posters put up by BJP. Atishi promised to reply to the notification by April 6 and questioned the impartiality and nonpartisanship of EC.
Minister Atishi of Delhi said she was asked to “join BJP or face jail,” however the Election Commission of India had written her a notice hours earlier. She stated that despite the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had contacted the EC numerous times about the BJP’s “objectionable” posters, nothing was done about it.
The AAP leader attacked the Election Commission (EC) during a news conference, claiming that the BJP had leaked the commission’s show-cause letter to the media an hour before it was addressed to her.
Atishi questioned, “Why, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, did the Election Commission not issue notices to the central agencies concerned after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested and Congress’ bank accounts were frozen?”
“Is the Election Commission is BJP’s subsidiary organization?” she inquired further. “I intend to respond to the notice from the European Commission and remind the commission of its obligation to remain impartial and nonpartisan in order to conduct free and fair elections in India,” Atishi continued.
By 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, the AAP minister has been requested to reply to the ECI notice.
Which ECI notification was mentioned?
“Critics of other political parties, when made, shall be limited to their policies and programme, past record, and work,” the Election Commission of India stated in the notification. Parties and Candidates should not disparage any element of a person’s private life that is unrelated to their participation in public life as leaders or employees of other parties.”
On the ECI notification, Atishi asked, “Is EC a subsidiary organization of BJP?”
“One should refrain from criticizing other parties or their employees on the basis of unsubstantiated claims or misrepresentation. The ECI notification said that “political parties and leaders shall not make false statements or utterances without factual basis intended to mislead the voters.”
The commission said that Atishi’s “misleading and unverified” remark from her April 2 news conference was the subject of a complaint it received from the BJP.
What did Atishi assert?
Atishi had stated that she was threatened with penalties if she didn’t join the BJP. I’ve been informed that our home will soon be the target of ED raids, after which we’ll be placed under arrest. The Aam Aadmi Party leaders’ next generation is now the focus of the BJP, the speaker stated.
