Police say 35-year-old former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis was discovered dead at his Florida estate.
In 2018, Davis, a former Pro Bowl cornerback, made waves when he announced his retirement from the Buffalo Bills before halftime.

After finding Davis’s death in the Southwest Ranches residence, the house assistant alerted police on Monday morning to a residence on the 6000 block of SW 178th Avenue, according to a statement from the Davie Police Department.
The agency stated, “Preliminary information suggests that foul play is not involved.”
Davis’s cause of death was not made public.
The almost $3 million mansion is held by Adaline Davis, who NBC South Florida identified as Davis’ grandmother, according to Broward County property records. According to other data, Vontae Davis occupied the house.
The office of the Broward County medical examiner said on Monday afternoon that it is looking into Davis’s passing.
“Until a thorough inspection, more testing, and research are completed, no more information is available. The agency stated in a statement that it may take up to 90 days to finish the inquiry and ascertain the cause and manner of death.
From 2009 until his retirement in 2018, Davis was a member of the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills.

Irsay posted again, saying, “Very saddened to hear of Vontae Davis’s passing.” A terrific man, comrade, and player. I will be praying for Vontae’s family.
In the first round of the 2009 draft, Miami chose Davis with the 25th overall choice. He was an Illinois University football player.
When Davis announced his retirement at halftime of the Bills’ 2018 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, it garnered attention and made headlines.
“This isn’t how I pictured retiring from the NFL,” he stated in a statement regarding his decision to end his career in the middle of a game. But reality hit me hard and quick today on the field. I shouldn’t be walking around anymore. I didn’t mean any offense to my coaches or teammates.
